Overstrand Hall
Overstrand Hall, built in 1899-1901. A former Military Hospital during World War I, it was considered one of the more luxurious military hospitals of the time. It closed less than a year after opening due to threat of enemy raids, later serving as a convalescent retreat for patients from the Midlands. This Grade II listed building is built using stone (uncommon in Norfolk), half-timbering and flint.
“FunFact” A modern addition to the furniture on site is a long table which was reputedly used in a Harry Potter film.
Reported phenomena includes unexplained sounds such as the moving of heavy furniture, disembodied voices and whispers. In the oldest sections of the building, people report the sensation of being watched and catching sight of shadow figures in their peripheral vision…. Overstrand in general is linked to the urban legend Black Shuck, a ghostly black dog with glowing eyes who haunts the local shoreline.
